Windshield Chip and Leak Repair

Windshield Chip Repair

A chipped windshield can be more than a nuisance. Although an issues like a rock chip might seem less than severe, overlooking rock chips can be costly. A small flaw such as a rock chip can easily, and quickly spread into a more unpleasant, distracting, costly sight. A simple rock chip repair service could cost you a fraction of the price, and time as a full windshield replacement. To be exact it will only cost you about 5-10% of the total cost of an entire new windshield. So do not hesitate to call as soon as you can to ensure the integrity of your windshield.

A very important side note to keep in mind, is during this process our goal is to prevent an already flawed windshield from completely broken. Despite what you may have seen on TV from big cooperate companies, rock chip blemishes do not always completely disappear after the repairs are done. CGI rock chips are easy to get rid of in a commercial, but in reality, they may clear up and become less noticeable, but there will always be a scar where the original impact point was.

Windshield Leak Repair

A leaking windshield can cause a plethora of issues. Whistling noises, moisture, wet floors or headliners, unwelcome rattling are some but not all signs of windshield leaks. These occurrences can stem anywhere from old age, rust, or more often than not, a faulty installation from the “cheaper guy”. If a leak is unattended, it could further the cost and sometimes be detrimental to the life expectancy of your vehicle. Electronics, and the structural security of your vehicle can be largely impacted by water where water is not welcome.

The simplest resolve, and the steps we take for a leaking windshield are; air test the surrounding area with pressurized air and glass cleaner, or soapy water, to target exactly where the windshield is leaking from if not noticeable upon prior inspection. Then to use our unique set of skills, and knowledge to carefully cut the window out (hopefully without breaking it) and inspecting what lies underneath. After the inspection is done we will clean the area and glass up, take care of any rust or flawed setting point, and correctly reinstall the glass. This process is called “Rip and Reinstall”. It’s cost affective and can save you the hassle of spending hundreds more on a new windshield.

Disclaimer: Not all windshields come out equally. During an “R&R” procedure the windshield may break or become flawed beyond usable. Our techs come prepared with a new windshield (or window) on hand regardless to ensure the job is complete when we leave.
