Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) windshields are made by the same company that made the original windshield in a car. Any other glass is considered after-market.
After-market glass is manufactured by companies that contract directly with car manufacturers. As such, after-market glass is made to the exact specifications as OEM or dealer glass but is considered “original equipment equivalent.” Although significantly less expensive, after-market glass is typically the same thickness as your automobile’s original glass and carries the same guarantee as OEM or dealer glass.
However, vintage car owners often only purchase OEM parts so their vehicles retain their value.

Typically, insurance companies will cover the cost of repairing a windshield, although it will depend on the policy details. Repairing the windshield is inexpensive and is an easy process.

In a word — very.
Most car owners consider changing the oil and taking care of routine maintenance as standard steps to keep their cars up and running. However, most people neglect the windshield. It’s essential to take care of any windshield damage as soon as possible to prevent the affected area from spreading, ultimately saving the car owner money, time, and aggravation. Just because a cracked windshield doesn’t make the car undrivable doesn’t mean they shouldn’t treat it like any other maintenance concern.

The damaged area will clear significantly after the repair. When cured, the polymer injected into the chip closely resembles the clarity of glass. It should be noted; the chip does not disappear; it hides. Customers will see something more like a shadow of where the pit was, with an expected clarity of 75% to 95% from the original damage. The main objective of repairing an area is to stop it from spreading further and cracking the glass.

All windshield damage should be repaired as soon as possible. Rock chips and cracks usually continue to spread until a repair is performed. Dirt and grime will also collect in the damaged area and result in a less favorable looking repair.

In the end, you still have a broken windshield after the repair is complete. We inject a liquid resin into the break to strengthen and seal it, lessening the chance of it worsening.
-
Occasionally, a technician may cause additional damage to a windshield. However, this is more likely to happen when the damage is close to the edge of the glass. In these cases, we recommend windshield replacement.
-
